We buy from smallholder growers across Kenya and Uganda, process to international food-safety standards, and ship macadamia, cashew, cocoa and coffee to buyers on four continents — with a paper trail that runs all the way back to the farm.
Our story
Macsken EPZ Ltd was founded in 2019 on a straightforward premise: the people who grow East Africa's finest crops should capture more of what those crops are worth.
That premise shapes how we buy. Rather than trade through layers of middlemen, we work directly with smallholder growers — more than 24,500 of them across Kenya's macadamia highlands, the cashew belt along the coast, Uganda's cocoa districts, and the arabica and robusta growing regions of East Africa. Buying at the farm gate means growers know what they are paid and why, and it means we know exactly which farms a container came from.
From there, everything happens under one roof. Our Export Processing Zone facility handles drying, cracking, grading, sorting and packing in-house, so quality is something we control rather than something we hope for. Twenty-five-plus cashew grades, a full macadamia style range, single-origin cocoa and both specialty and commercial coffee leave that facility for buyers in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
We are a young company in an old trade, and we have taken the parts of it worth keeping — patience, relationships, an obsession with the crop — and left behind the opacity.

What we hold to
A good harvest starts three seasons before it reaches us. Our job is to not be the weak link.
By the numbers
Cumulative figures since we started buying in 2019 — farmers in our supply network, raw nut-in-shell received, and finished kernel sold.
How it works
Four steps, all of them ours. Keeping the chain short is what lets us answer the two questions buyers actually ask: where did this come from, and who checked it.
We buy directly from smallholder growers in Kenya and Uganda, paying at the gate and recording the origin of every lot we take in.
Drying, cracking, grading, sorting and packing all happen inside our EPZ facility — no subcontracted steps we cannot stand behind.
Moisture, aflatoxin, foreign matter and grade consistency are checked against an FSSC 22000 quality system built on HACCP principles.
Sealed containers leave with full certification, phytosanitary paperwork and traceability records for the buyer on the other end.

Quality assurance
Products prepared to the highest standards from quality raw materials, in full compliance with relevant legislation and approved codes of practice.
A quality management system certified to FSSC 22000 and built on HACCP principles, governing every stage inside the facility.
Products that meet statutory, regulatory and food-safety requirements in both local and international markets.

The same lot, followed from the tree it grew on to the container it leaves in.

Global reach
Every shipment leaves from Nairobi. From there it goes to roasters, processors and distributors across Europe, the Americas, Asia and North Africa — handled by the same team that received the raw crop.
Shipping to a market that isn't listed here? We probably can.
